"Zeche Knirps"

The "Zeche Knirps" is open for free play under museum supervision during the season (end of March to October) every Saturday from 2 pm to 6 pm, Sundays and public holidays from 11 am to 6 pm. Admission is free.

The "Zeche Knirps" is one of the most popular destinations for families in the Ruhr region. With underground and above-ground areas, conveyor belts, mine trains, winding engines and much more, our children's mine has everything that is needed for operations in a real colliery. However, instead of coal, gravel is transported at Knirps using technology that was developed in Hanover in 1876 and is still used in mining worldwide today.
